In 1996, Emma was taken to a logging camp by a hunter. The logging company arranged for Emma to be brought to the LWC, together with Benito who also stayed there. During her first months at LWC she was very sick, the reason why she looks smaller than Benito and Jumbo. Happily, Emma has grown into a strong and active gorilla. She is fond of standing upright and can be recognized by her dimpled nose
