Chella was found in the back of a bush-taxi with his dead mother and was confiscated by wildlife officials in Bertoua. Chella was kept with the wildlife officials for three weeks before being brought to the LWC. Having only been fed with beer and a little amount of food, he was dehydrated and malnourished on arrival. Through tireless efforts of LWC staff, his health slowly improved. Chella is now a fully grown silverback and likes to push his weight around. He is the dominant male in this group.
