We believe that it is through education that the Limbe Wildlife Centre can have its greatest impact on primate conservation in Cameroon. Each year the LWC receives around 40,000 visitors, of which 90% are Cameroonians. Such high numbers of local people visiting a conservation project is highly unusual in this part of the world and presents a great conservation education opportunity.
Currently the LWC has four strands within its education program:
- Guided tours and information signs on site
- Saturday’s Nature Club – held weekly at the LWC for primary and secondary school students
- School Outreach Program – the LWC education team visits local schools on a weekly basis
- Conservation Workshops – each year the LWC hosts several conservation workshops, lasting 1 to 3 days
